Many people in Maharashtra, particularly in Mumbai are shocked with the electricity bill amount received for the month of June amid lockdown .The bill for June month seems to be inflated and people are finding it difficult to understand on what basis such a high bills are generated and seeking clarification with MSEDCL.
As per people, the bill generated by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEB) for the month of May and June was a shocker for many as some of them have not paid any bill more than recieved in the month of June this entire year for anything.
Many people have submitted complaint on the MSEDCL website and waiting for resolution.Many consumers have also raised their concerns on social media platforms like twitter and have written to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) regarding high MSEDCL electricity bills.
However the Electricity companies and have denied any inflation in bills and have informed that the increased bill is due to high usage and lack of meter reading amid lockdown.
As per president of Maharashtra State Power Consumers’ Association Pratap Hogade the bills generated are correct considering the increased tariff applicable from 1 April.

Also it was found there is an option to Submit Reading’ on the MahaVitaran application by MSEDL (Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited). You can submit your current meter reading on the MSEDL app, but this was not known to people. This is something that was accessible promptly however none of us thought about it or the MSEDCL should have sent clear instructions to public to use this feature.
Hope this new MSEDCL website Powered by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd , would bring certain relief to people as they would be able to get detailed view of bills generated during lock down.
