Now a days the automobile companies are working towards manufacturing ebikes, however an inflatable ebike named “POIMO” that fits in a little bagback when you’re not riding it has taken things to the following level.A group of students Hiroki Sato, Young ah Seong, Ryosuke Yamamura, Hiromasa Hayashi,Katsuhiro Hata, Hisato Ogata, Ryuma Niiyama and Yoshihiro Kawahara from university of Tokyo have created an ebike that can be packed and carried in backup as proof of concept. The students created POIMO, to introduce the concept of Soft Mobility with the use of soft, lightweight, and inflatable materials.
The concept of POIMO was demonstrated in Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)’s digital library as part of “Extended Abstracts of the 2020 CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems.”
POIMO was constructed with thermoplastic polyurethane and electric skateboard.POIMO can be inflated anytime with the help of portable inflator.
Utilizing an inflatable body on an e-bicycle could have various direct advantages. A result of the foldable and compact material, the electric range of the bike can be increased, also this would be economical and make it increasingly open. Furthermore, this can reduce the injuries caused by metal bike collisions.Check out a short Demo video below.
It would be interesting to watch once POIMO is launched in the market.
